Salam and hello :)
Seems like ages since I blogged. Raya orders for Old Blossom Box took a toll on me, and I needed much rest after Hari Raya. But moving over, I had a trip right before Puasa (its a throwback blogpost) and beacuse we just celebrated MALAYSIA DAY, it was the right timing for me to share the beauty of Sabah with you.
As a girl from Sarawak, its funny that I've never been to my neighbouring part of Borneo, Sabah. Having a bestfriend who is Sabahan all throughout my adult life, I have always wondered what Sabah was like. Then.... along came Air Asia and Sabah Tourism Board to make all my wishes and curiosity come true.
And truthfully speaking, arent we lucky to have Air Asia around? I cant even count on how many Air Asia flights I've been on, because of my job I travel monthly or twice a month (I have to source the latest fashion overseas/fabric supplies overseas) and my 'kampung' being in Kuching, Sarawak, Air Asia has always been my NO.1 choice of airline (it has saved me soo much money!)
Our media trip to Sabah was a blast. It was a three days trip, and because I have soo much to share. Each post will be separated by day 1, 2 and 3.
After arriving in Kota Kinabalu, we headed straight to Kudat to get the trip started. Being far from KL, I was so relieved for the peace, fresh air and greens I saw on the way to Kudat.
At the gong making village. I love all the colours and seeing first hand how these are manually made by hands is surreal, its one noisy village to move in to, as they hammer these as early as 7am and will do so throughout the day.
Outfit: OLD BLOSSOM BOX crinkle shawl & floral pants/ KINKYBLUEFAIRY tiger print top/ H&M cardigan/ SOMETHING BOUDOIR scallop bag/ VINCCI flats
I wish I had hanging snacks at home..
Next, to the bee farm we go..
How amazing are these bees at work? If you saw on my instagram, I had my face quite near to this 'honey factory'. Seeing things like this makes me at awe on how beautiful Allah has created nature, and if you dont know, there's a Surah An-Nahl (The Bees) in the Holy Al-Quran too..
Hello Ox
(I bet the ox is soo used to tourists, that it practically posed for the camera)
And you wouldn't want to miss visiting a long house in Sabah.. Its one of the must go places, and if you can, try spending a night or two. The Bavanggazo Longhouse that we went to was amazing. The structure and the scenery around it, I cant even put into words..
You can even shop accessories here :p
The best was saved for the last part of the first day trip ofcourse, The Tip Of Borneo! I swear, its almost the same as Lands End in England (without the really really cold weather). Every year, they would have the Sunset Music Festival here, and again... its a must go/ must visit. Just imagine listening to some of the worlds renowned musicians, with the beautiful sea and sunset as backdrop :)
The trip takes about 3 hours drive, but for the view alone...its totally worth it.
When else would you see me in a garbage bag? Hehe.. (its actually a raincoat)
and photobombed by Wong (China Press Journalist) at the back.
