AN EVENING WITH ARIANI

As we all know, Ariani is one of Malaysia's leading hijab/scarf brand. I was lucky to be invited for the evening tea soiree which took place at Double Tree by Hilton. The grand affair was beautifully set, for a very important surprise by Galeri Ariani (which is by Jakel).

 

What surprise? apart from the gorgeous fashion show for the 2014 Collection of scarves, it was an unveiling of the new face for Galeri Ariani Ambassador & Galeri Ariani Icon (who could it be ?) :D

The 2014 collection was all about Glam Exclusive, all designed to cater the young professionals. It included gorgeous arrays of  Zafira Lace, Selendang Art Work, Selendang Stone, Selendang Embroidery, Selendang Lace, Tiara Chiffon 2 Layer and Selendang Aleeysa Lace.

Another collection was showcased, Chic Casual. Which has Zafira Printed, Selendang Embroidery, Selendang Printed Stone, Selendang Crumple and Aleesya Beaded Block Heavy amongst others. The pieces are stunning yet casual enough for daily wear.

The surprise that we were waiting for :D The new face of Galeri Ariani is TV personality Nurul Syuhada (taking over the face of Wardina who has been the ambassador of Galeri Ariani for 10 years) For me, the lovable Nurul Syuhada is a great face to represent Ariani, with a great personality, a great TV host, humble and overall beautiful inside & out.

Before we were 'surprised' by other great news. Galeri Ariani exclusively designed 3 scarves that was available for bidding (my first time ever witnessing a live bidding!!!) All were made with the highest quality of fabrics, french lace & stones. At the auction, each scarf was sold for RM5K, RM8K & RM10K (a whopping figure to be donated to charity)

One of the highlight of the event was Dato' Siti Nurhaliza belting a song! I think it was my first time ever seeing her singing live (and I still keep it dearly in my heart when I styled her hijab for InTrend cover last year..)

During the press conference, it was announced that a collection of Siti Nurhaliza by Galeri Ariani scarves were to be released soon (she is wearing one of the designs), and a line of Siti Nurhaliza by Jakel apparels are in the works too.

MY CAT SABER & FANCY FEAST

A couple of months back, had a shoot for Womens Weekly magazine for Fancy Feast (the cat food), usually my cat Debab would be in shoots, so this time it was Saber's turn (short for Sabertooth and he's a Mainecoon)

It was a fun shoot, but since Saber isnt as camera-ready like Debab (my black Persian) it was quite hard to control this guy.. hehe..

In the wake of the Haiyan Typhoon that happened recently in Philippines, I thought it was a good timing to blog on my trip to Manila recently (read part 1 here), and how like many organizations out there are helping Philippines, AirAsia is part of the generous organization too. And to remind myself what are truly beautiful country Philippine is, and how I cant wait to get back via AirAsia ofcourse :)

In July, AirAsia Foundation has chosen a Manila based company, RagsIIRiches for a yearly grant, for all 100 craftsmen to train.

All about crafting home deco and sought after bags, Rags2Riches has successfully transformed the lives of hundreds of artisans through its innovative approach, which combines ethical business and environmental issues. It is a business model of the future and through the grant, its aim is to not only help the business grow but also share its success story around the region.

Upon hearing the inspirational story on how the idea began and why, I truly LOVE that AirAsia Foundation supports RagsIIRiches. 

And as said earlier, because of the devastation by Haiyan Typhoon, AirAsia recently offered assistance to Philippines typhoon victims too. Which did not only include cash donations, but also free cargo space and free flights for NGOs/relief workers/humanitarian workers, and 250,000 free seats for Philippians to return home. Isnt that remarkable?

Through the grant, Rags2Riches receives $13,275 to fund the training of 100 new artisans to produce eco-ethical fashion and home accessories using upcycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics. The artisans, who come mainly from underprivileged communities in the Philippines, will participate in skills upgrade, design improvement and knowledge exchange workshops at the Rags2Riches Artisan Academy over a 12-month period.
