MANILA, PHILIPPINES DAY 1

I was so excited! My first ever trip to Philippines :D

Since I was a kid, the only relation of Philippines I knew about was Imelda Marcos was the first lady there (then) and she was famous (apart from being the first lady) for having lots and lots of shoes. She was the ultimate shoe queen, before all the other shoe queens existed. So, I was extremely excited

All thanks to AirAsia Zest ofcourse, my 4 hour trip was smooth and I managed to sleep.
It was a short 3 day trip to visit Rags2Riches HQ
which is supported by the AirAsia Foundation (more on that on my next post)

At LCCT for my flight, wearing: THRIFTED scarf, THRIFTED denim shirt, TOPSHOP daisy sequined top, OLA necklace, F21 jeans & LOUIS VUITTON speedy. I rarely wear heels nowdays (especially when travelling) but when you visit the land of Imelda Marcos, you have to pay homage to the shoe queen :)

We stayed at the beautiful, sleek F1 Manila Hotel
which was located at the modern part of Manila.

Night look for dinner at Banifacio Fort, and as halal food was sparse/so hard to find, we had Arab food. Banifacio Fort and all the shops surrounding it was beautiful and nicely placed within walking distance from one another. It reminded me of Ginza in Tokyo.

DAY 3 IN SABAH VIA AIR ASIA

Finally, the last blogpost of my Sabah trip in June.

Going through pictures again for this post makes me miss Sabah so much. Clear blue skies, fresh air, and ofcourse the sea! As you can recall from my first and second day experiences in Kota Kinabalu, on the third and last day of our trip we went to Gaya Street in the morning. I was soo happy to have found the old ice cream van to take a picture with.. hehe..

The water seems sooo inviting, and because I miss Sabah so much, it made me check on the AirAsia website for the flights they have from KL-KK Sabah. And conveniently for those in Penang & Johor, you also have direct flights to Kota Kinabalu. Below is the flight timetable for easy viewing, and you can choose your timing to fly out:

Borneo Reef World Pontoon

It was my first time snorkeling and diving :O
I cant tell you guys how much I was freaking out.
I was soo scared as I cant swim *tutup muka*

 

In I go, as I was stepping down ( I cant remember how deep it was) I kept praying that I wouldnt drown (haha...) but everything was handled professionally by the instructor as he guided me till the very last step below. And all I can recall was, how beautiful it was and how amazed I was with Allah's creation. MasyaAllah it was a beauty under the sea, where fishes would swim by in hundreds. I was so thankful for being brave enough to do under and see His amazing creations.

On the 2nd day of my trip to Sabah (all thanks again to the airline we rely on, Air Asia and the Sabah Tourism Board) we had a trip to the Upside Down House. I couldnt believe I was actually there, because I saw sooo many pictures of the Upside Down House on instragram (a fave spot to drop by when you're in Sabah) that I knew this place was worth the visit.

Although the tour wasnt really long, but its interesting to see, and see how creative they are for pulling off something like this. And the guy who took us through the house was hilarious too.

Mari Mari Cultural Village

Loved it here.. In the lush forest with replicas of various tribes long houses. What fascinates me are the historical facts on each tribes, and how their culture and home differ from one another. again, being a girl from Sarawak, I have always loved cultural places, and besides the Sarawak Cultural Village, Mari Mari Cultural Village is the second that I've been too.

At one of the houses, it has a stream right outside its 'hut' window.
Would this be like a fantasy?
I wish there was a stream outside MY bedroom window at home.

Remember, if you do come to Sabah, be sure to drop by to the cultural village, and listen to the guide as he walks you through. It was such an interesting and educational session. Our guide was a funny man, so it made it more fun!

And, its not complete if you came to Borneo and not watch a cultural show..
